Reflection (9th)

Continuing off of the theme of blending and reflections, I sketched the pot shown below. It was a difficult sketch because there was so much shading involved. I practiced hatching in the center in a diagonal direction, and cross-hatching near the sides. The opening of the vase is where I practiced the contour-hatching. It was particularly challenging because there was not equal shading and my pencil struggled making some parts darker; although, the different hatchings helped to create a more distinct appearance of contrast. Blending made the lines duller and the shaded effect was simply conveyed and easily identified. The reflection of the image was my next step and it was small and not very detailed. The shape overall for the pot was not difficult to sketch, and the oval at the top was surprisingly easy to recreate and easier being compared with the basic structure. Sketching the image, I practiced using basic and essential strategies which can point me to the direction of success and progression. To continue, practicing these methods again to improve would be beneficial.
