Reflection 5

This week I decided to make rice with broccoli and copped carrots. The first thing you do is fill a saucepan with water and let it boil on medium low heat. Add in about 2 capfuls of water and some salt. When the water begins to boil, add in desired amount of rice into the pan then stir so that all the rice is  submerged into the water. Cover the pan so that the rice can cook and begin to cook your vegetables.  Before cooking the vegetables, make sure to properly wash them. (Cooking the carrot is optional, so i decided against cooking it). Peel the carrot then cook into big pieces. Trim off the tops where the stem is and cut the carrot into 2 to 4 big pieces. Peel the carrot then cut a slice starting from one end to the other to create a sort of flat "bottom". Then cut the length of the carrot into smaller, thinner slices. Stack all the slices on top of each other, and cut through to create these"matchsticks".  Put a medium sized pot filled with water on the stove over medium high heat and allow to boil. Then add about 1 1/2 tablespoons of salt to the water. Place broccoli into the water and cook for 1 1/2 minutes. Remove the broccoli form that water and place into another pot filled cold water for 30 seconds . Drain the water completely, and serve with the rice.
