Reflection 6

It is the beginning of November, my favorite season is here. This weather is good for a long run in the morning. I went for a 30 minute walk this morning and it is nice to see the change in the weather. It is cold in the morning which is good weather to run in because your body adjusts to the temperature as you start sweating. Running in the cold is a good way to clear your lungs and work on your breathing. It is going to be winter soon so I thought this would contribute to getting ready for the harsh winter running sessions I plan to do. I have practiced one exercise from the Emory Healthcare website. It is called the "Schlopy Mini Jumps", I did these in 3 sets of 25 repetitions for the last 3 days. It is a simple strengthening exercise that requires you to jump forward in a squatting position, then jump back and squat to about a 90 degree angle. I have noticed that it challenges my balance and works out my thighs. My weight is forced onto my toes when jumping but when I squat down I equal out the weight onto my heels. I focus on my posture during the first set, making sure I am not straining myself by not having the right form during the exercise. This is important because if I am not watching my form I could possibly stress a muscle. Next week, I will do 5 laps at my high school and record my time. Lets see my progress and what I need to work on.
