Reflection 2-2
This week, I began to look at some Swift tutorials. Already, I'm beginning to see the benefit of having a partner for this project. I said before that I could not find a tutorial that wasn't blocked in school, but my marvelous partner Alex searched harder than me and not only ended up finding a great video tutorial but also found a Swift programming book, which is beneficial because it's easier to skip around to what you want to see rather than waiting for it in a video. I just started to learn the basics so theres not much work I have to show just yet, but I'm hoping to start working in Xcode (iOS developing program) in the coming week.

Reflection 2-2
This week was my second in my second semester twenty time project. It proves to be a very important week as I altered some of my project. I decided that I also wanted to include stretching in addition to strength training as part of my project. I feel like these two go hand in hand, since stretching can help prevent injuries while lifting weights. I also just want to become more flexible. I am confident it will help me perform better at the gym and on the field. As a result, I started researching about this topic during class and found some really great routines. I performed this before my workout on Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday and every night before bed.
Reflection 2.2
This week, I learned a lot, not just about the language but about myself as well. I realized that I am really the type of person who learns best when I'm immersing myself in my lessons. So, I have taken to reading a book I found online that details tagalog grammar and is usually reserved for Filipinos that are learning the in-depth language in their college courses. I know I might be taking a big step here, but I feel like it's important for me to dive right in to the technical stuff so that I'm prepared to talk with some dignity instead of just sounding like a blubbering idiot. At this point, I can kind of have a decent conversation with my parents in the language, but they are constantly fixing my grammar, and rearranging my sentences so that they sound literate. Hopefully, after reading and skimming through this book for a little (and taking down some good notes), I'll be able to speak a little more clearly.
Reflection 2
This week, I spent my time researching attempts at Utopian societies. My goal was to learn how the communities were set up and why they failed. While I know that It is impossible to create a Utopian society that will not fail, it is still useful to look at the failed attempts so that I can know what kind of things to avoid in my society.
Reflection 2-2 Saverio
I have decided that my new 20 time project will be starting my own concession company. The idea dawned on me when I realized that there is much opportunity for one in my town of Mountainside. And, no one is currently there to fill the void, so I figured, I might as well. This next week, I will spend my time working out many of the particulars I will have to know. (All the rules and regulations.)
Reflection 2-2
What a crazy week! I am now onto a new twenty time ambition. My new task, to create a stop-motion movie/short. This week, I spent most of my time brainstorming on what I wanted to create. After more though, I have come to the decision that I want at least one Star Wars themed film and one more serious film. I would like to enter this short into the Star Wars fan film competition. I hope to create a storyline by next week so I can begin production.
Reflection 2 - 2
I was not able to cook for my family this weekend because I was not home for most of the weekend, and when I got back, it was too late and everyone had already eaten and was preparing for bed.
Reflection #2-2
This week was supposed to be used to film the interviews for the first part of the video. I was going to ask them questions like "How did you get into this sport?" and "What is your favorite memory from all the years you've been doing synchro?" but I did not know that we had a skills test on Sunday (today). My coaches would not allow me to film during practice because we had to focus on practicing our skills for the testing event, which was today. This small problem did not set me back, because instead of filming interviews I just filmed parts from the skills testing today that I can show later in the video. Also, during the week since I couldn't film anything I just practiced more basic editing skills. I took some more videos of me at the beach and I practiced putting them in slow motion and adding transitions. Next week since we have nothing major going on I'm finally going to film my interviews.
Reflection 2.2
This was my second week of learning Swift and creating an iPhone app. I found an app to learn swift, called Swifty. Also, I found a few more good torturials online. In addition, I found a book and some videos and put those in a folder on google drive. I started going a little more into the basics this week. Me and Francisco are still trying to find a suitable code editor in which we can both access the same code.
Reflection 2-2
During this week I practiced the second stage for solving the cube in the online PDF tutorial. It was to solve the white cross with a certain color sequence. It was a challenge first, though it was easy to get the hang of with much practice. Doing it again and again, I eventually memorized the patterns and the timing would decrease. Every new step should be learned by practicing to get lower times and to memorize. In proceeding, stages might take me longer but the key to the system proves to be practicing. I am continuing to stage three, which is the white face’s corner pieces and will do this using practice.

Week 2
I was able to workout 2 times this week. I put a alot of effort in my exercises on tuiesday and by thursday my body was sore. On Tuesday, I did:
2 sets of 13 push-ups
2 sets of 25 declined crunches
1 mile in 10 min. 40 seconds
I met my goals for the exercises except for doing 2 sets of 40 squats. I actually was taught a moderation to squats by my gym teacher. They are exercise ball squats. It was an awesome suggestion. They are squats that incorporate an exercise ball and 2 weights of 15 pounds.
On thursday I did the same exercises but I ran more than a mile and half this time. I reached all my goals except the original squats and running the mile in ten minutes and twenty seconds.
Next week, I am going to add five repetitions to each exercise and if I am willing to be challenged even more I am going to add a set to each making it three sets. I am going to continue to work to run a mile in ten minutes abad twenty seconds. I am going to try to attend a yoga class also.

Proposal to Change
Only a week into twenty-time, I have found my ambition to play the ukulele a fantasy rather than reality. First, after consulting with my parents, they did not want to buy me the instrument. They were not convinced by the "online learning" idea. My father, an extremely skilled violinist, believes you always need an instructor. I do agree with him, now seeing what a commitment an instrument really is. Instead, I am pursuing a subject that has interested me for a while. This subject is film making. To me, communication is the most important ability in life. Film is a way for an individual to portray ideas and thoughts. Now, I wanted to do something different with film. That lead me to the unique form of filmmaking called stop-motion. I plan to utilize legos and possibly drawings on paper to make my film. Ms. Roy also recommended stikbots to help me film. Star Wars has announced a fan film contest, and I hope to make a Star Wars themed film that I can submit. I will utilize my time during class to research film and camera techniques. At home, I will film. I hope to produce either one long film or several short films.

20 Time Brainstorming Guide
Day 1:
List all of the things you’ve ever wanted to do, physically, and never been able to.
I have always wanted to run a marathon.
I have always wanted to learn to surf.
List all of the things you’ve ever wanted to do, mentally, and never been able to.
I have always wanted to learn how to play chess.
I have always wanted to focus more on school.
Think of some ways you might be able to help your community.
I can volunteer at a soup kitchen.
I can tutor younger students.
Think of some ways you might be able to help your school.
I can join the student council.
I can take a more active role in SMAC.
Think of some hobbies you’ve always wanted to try but never got around to figuring them out or learning more about them.
Coding.
Running
Now, choose your favorite three from above and freewrite on each of them for 5 minutes each. Do this exercise on a separate sheet of paper and staple it to this handout. Use the questions below as a guide.
What would your goal be? How would you get there? Would you need any help? How can you work on this every week? What would your 20 Time look like in class?
I would definitely like to start running. My goal overall would be to run a mile in less than five minutes. I can achieve this by jogging every day after school and eating right. I would not need any help to this
Researching
Day 2:
My 20 Time Project is going to be: Strength Training
My final product/goal/accomplishment will be: Gain ten pounds while keeping body fat the same.
What do I need to know about my topic to be successful? (Now research these items and staple them to this handout.)
I need to know the proper exercises and diet. I already have some sources because I did this before.
What will be easy about this project?
Motivation.
What will be difficult about this project?
Time management.
Will most of this project be in class or outside of class?
In class.
If outside, what will I do during the class 20 Time?
Research diets and exercises.

Reflection 2.1
This week, I began speaking Tagalog. It was such an overwhelming process because I decided to tell my parents to speak to me in purely tagalog. I think that it has made such a difference in my understanding of the language and have learned a lot of phrases. I actually am able to understand most of what my parents say, it's emulating their language and their fluidity that I am still working on. Its made my home life very different, but I can see that I am well on my way to learning this new language. This week, I focused on numbers so that I will be able to tell time. There are subtle differences between counting in Ilongo and Tagalog, so what I worked on this week, with this children's app that I got, was the differences between the two. I am focusing on the main language Tagalog, and will later differentiate between the two when I fully am able to discern between the two. Overall, this has been a promising week in my 20% journey.
Reflection 1 Semester 2
This week marks the first in my second semester 20 time. In total, I went to the gym five times this week. During my time I tried out some new exercises to target my muscles from a different angle. I tested out concentration curls, and found that they are really good for finishing my workout and exhausting the bicep. I also attempted upright rows to target my back muscles. While this exercise was effective, I found that it caused pain in my longer back while I was performing it. It is likely that I did the exercise incorrectly, so I need to practice my form. Lastly, for chest presses I switched from barbell to dumbbell presses. I found that this ensures that both sides are being utilized equally and is much more efficient. I am confident that with these changes and with the right diet, I can continue t make progress throughout this journey.

Reflection 2-1
This week was a fairly unproductive week. Because I do not yet have the funds to obtain a ukulele, I was not able to get one this week. However, I did spend my time researching the best models for beginners. I have found that the best type of ukulele for a starter is a soprano ukulele. Kala is probably the company I will be buying mine from. I hope to get the instrument this week.
Week 1
I reached my goal for this week which was to see where my level of strength is at currently. During my gym class I did exercises and ran. I recorded my starting point for these exercises.
20 decline crunches, 40 squats, 10 push ups. I ran 1 mile in 10 min.: 30 sec. My most recent recording of my 5 mile run took me over an hour.
I also set goals for my self for the week coming. During my 20% Time I wrote down my starting points in a notebook I got just to use for working out. I also increased the repetitions to the three exercises above. My goal is do two sets of each exercise with the increased amount of reps. I hope to run a mile in ten minutes and 20 seconds. I hope to run five miles over the next 3 weeks in about 50 minutes to an hour. I set these goals and I hope to reach them in about a week or two.
From there, I am going to make reason adjustments to my goals and hopefully meet my goal that I have for the whole project. I have an exercise log I will keep with me to record my progress throughout the semester. I will use that to base the goals I set for the upcoming weeks.

Reflection 1
This week I began my journey to getting stronger and more fit. I was very productive this week, because I went to the gym 4 times, working out my biceps, triceps, chest, and back. I am developing a diet plan which will hopefully be ready to use sometime this week. I plan on doing more of the same work next week as I did this week.
Reflection 2-1
I began my work on the project this week since I am making mods for one of my favorite games, I decided to make a voice pack to start out. I am 60% done with collecting the audio files. I learned how to put them in the game. I have to work quickly to release my mod because I am sure others are doing the same character. I hope I can finish it.
Reflection 2-1
This week I decided to make pizzas for my family and I to eat as we watch the NBA's. To start off, i bought Pillsbury Classic Pizza Crust and laid it out on a pizza pan and put it back into the fridge. Then i began working on the sauce. I combined hot sauce, chipotle barbecue sauce, ketchup, Ragu tomato sauce, and stirred until evenly combined. I, then, took the dough out of the frig and layered the sauce on it.Then I applied a generous amount of shredded cheese and pepperoni, with onions and green peppers onto it. Then I put it under the stove and let it cook for about 15 minutes.
Reflection #2-1
In my first week of 20% time I focused on learning how to use iMovie. I've never really edited videos before so I thought that I would need to learn to before even beginning to film. The best website to use to learn what all of the features can do is https://www.apple.com/support/mac-apps/imovie/, but since there is quite a bit of information to take in from this website, I watched a half-hour youtube video about it instead (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZGG5kbMKmLo). After learning about these features I decided to put them into practice. I took a few underwater videos that I filmed at a beach in Spain over the summer and I decided to edit these videos and put some music in the background to match them. It took longer than you may think because I wanted to make the song match perfectly to the clips, but the final product looked really cool.
Next week I am planning on filming some interviews of my teammates about how they got into the sport.
Reflection 2-1
To get going, I searched online for tutorials. The Rubik’s website offers an extensive PDF which details different stages of the sequence, including definitions. For instance, the first scope shows parts of the cube and the pieces of the cube using written descriptions and photographs. Before implementing steps, I would have to learn the terms and notations since these are written in the steps. I would not be able to perform the procedure not knowing that ‘i’ means counterclockwise and that when turned the cube’s logo must stay on the top component. As I’ve learned these elements, my next part of the procedure is to learn the steps. The packet continues to outline the steps and I would use that as a reference in proceeding.

Reflection 2.1
In my first week of learning Swift and making an app, I could not do much because of an FBLA trip and then more school work, but I did manage to find some good torturials as well as look through the information for Swift on the Apple website. I looked over them and got acquainted with the language. I hope to use to use the upcoming weeks to effectively and efficiently learn the Swift language.
Reflection 2:1
In my first week of creating an iPhone app, I searched for some courses/tutorials that would help me to learn the programming language Swift. I found a good course, but due to the school blocking virtually everything, I might not be able to view it in school, meaning a large portion of this project will be out of school. It is a minor detail that I don't think will really have a big effect on me. In addition to finding a course, earlier in the week my partner, Alex, and I worked and brainstormed what it was we wanted to create. We came up with the idea of making a simple app for Magnet.

Learning to solve the Rubik’s cube is my next 20% time endeavor. The process requires a large quantity of focusing, and will take long to complete. The Rubik’s cube is solved by a sequence of steps, and there are many resources for learning such steps. I could use online tutorials, in the forms of written-out steps, and in video. Class time should be used to learn different steps, and in practicing doing these. After I learn a new piece, I am going to practice it, until it will become muscle memory and then add it to what I’ve already mastered. Every piece is built off the step before it, so it’s highly cumulative. My struggles, and the total number of steps, should determine what I could accomplish during all of these weeks. I would reflect on the progress, and how my time was manipulated, evaluating my ranges of difficulty.

Proposal
I learned a lot from my first 20% time project. I loved what I was doing an issue really got to learn unreal engine. The sequel to one of the most favorite games of all time came out recently and they had full mod support. The development team used unreal engine for the whole project and making mods would come out of there too. I can put my coding skills to use when making my own mod, I also want to further my skill in coding which this would be the perfect opportunity. If I manage my time correctly I could even begin to learn basic 3d modeling to have my own custom assets in the mod. The 20% time I have to learn to manage my time correctly.I plan to make custom voice packs first then start creating my own armor. If manage my time correctly there is no stopping me.

20% Time Proposal Part 2
For my second 20% time project, I decided to continue on my cooking journey and become a better cook who can make delicious food and lots of it. I plan to learn how to improve on my methods and be able to cook full course meals for myself and my family, so that when I am out on my own I won’t be eating Ramen noodles every single day. I intend to work more with my mom in the kitchen in order to pick up on some of the tricks and tips she uses to make her food so yummy. I want to be able to cook at least a 5 course meal so that I can take over in the kitchen and give my mom some time to rest and relax.

Creating a Web Based Micro Nation!!!!!
What is a micronation?...
“A micronation is an entity created and maintained as if it were a nation and/or a state, and generally carrying with it some, most or all of the attributes of nationhood, and likewise generally carrying with it some of the attributes of statehood. Though a micronation may well have begun as a mere drollery, it has the potential (given the evolution of a sufficiently vital national culture) to develop into a true nation, and possibly to achieve statehood.”
-Peter Ravn Rasmussen
Our goal. A Political Exercise to create a plausible and internally consistent simulation of a governmental mechanism. Though the ultimate purpose might be recreational, emphasis is on the realism.
What we will learn- we hope to learn the ethics and philosophy behind government and perhaps experiment with different political ideas on a harmless and ultimately meaningless platform so that we may better grasp economics and politics.
We will spend our 20% time researching politics and maintaining our website. And networking with other micronations.
We will need a computer, time, and decisions-making skill.
20% Proposal
For this semester's 20% project, I decided to learn how to speak the Filipino languages Tagalog and Ilongo. I chose this project because it's both timely and relevant to what I plan to do in the near future - visit the Philippines this coming summer. Although I am Filipino, I can only understand some of the language and I sound very illiterate when I try to speak back. I am actually traveling to the Philippines by myself, so it's super important that I learn how to speak fluently in case I get lost in travel. I also want to be able to speak to my relatives particularly my grandpa. My grandpa speaks Ilongo, a Filipino dialect, that I tend to mix up with the main language, Tagalog. Part of my 20% project will be to clearly distinguish between both languages, since it's super confusing to me. So, essentially I am learning two different languages.
To do this project I will definitely be needing a mentor (something that was very needed during my last 20% project), so I will definitely be talking to my parents about helping me throughout this journey. I hope to take notes, maybe make flash cards, or just properly document something when I learn it.
The easiest part of this project would definitely be understanding the Filipino languages since I am already able to translate a lot of it.
The most difficult part of this project will probably be learning Ilongo. Tagalog is the Philippines' main language, so it will not be hard at all to find resources online to help me. But, Ilongo is really only native to one island out of 1,100 islands in the Philippines (and I have tried to find resources online before and found one ill-created dictionary), so I would need to depend on a native speaker to teach me.

Proposal
For my second 20 time project, I have decided to go to the gym more often and focus on strength training, and possibly running. My main focus, however, is strength training. I have been going to the gym for a while now, but not frequently. There are periods o time where I go multiple times a week, and there are stretches where I don't go for weeks on end. With this project, I'd like to go at least 4 times a week, and improve my overall strength, be it in my arms, legs, core, etc. I may or may not implement running into it, because it is a good way to get fit, but it is not my main focus, so I will see if I have time and or energy for it. So in conclusion, I want to get stronger by going to the gym at least 4 times a week and try and increase my muscle mass and my weight overall. This should be very enjoyable, considering I have always wanted to do this, I just have not had the motivation that this project will give me.
20 Time Proposal
For my next 20 time project, I would like to build off of what I previously learned to do by making an iOS app using the programming language– Swift. Swift is a relatively new language that has many of the aspects of other coding languages like JavaScript (which is what I previously learned to do), except it reads more like English. This is going to be a shared 20 time project with Alex. Our end goal is to make some kind of app, be it a game, or something like a workout app. In this project I will be focusing on the user interface part of the project, where as Alex will work on the mechanics of the programming language and the building of the app. I previously stated that I didn't like making the "design" of a website, but when it comes to making an app, it is surprisingly easier, and now that I know I can make it more interactive, I will be sure to do so.
To accomplish our end goal we will be using tutorials on Apple's website and elsewhere on the Internet and books. We both have some experience with programming languages but our knowledge is limited. We hope by doing this project together we can help each other learn and use the skills of each other to try and get an even better final product. In the real world, many jobs require for teams to work on certain projects together, and building an app is no easy progress, so Alex and I hope to work on different aspects of an app in order to create something fun/useful.
20 time proposal
For my next 20 time, I would like to learn how to make an iOS app using the programming language– Swift. This is going to be a shared 20 time project with Francisco. "A Year in the Making" Film
For this semester's 20% time project I decided on making a video about my team for our banquet at the end of the season in June. Synchronized Swimming is something that we are all really passionate about, and I want to honor my team for sticking with it even if this year we had a really rough start. My goal is to bring my teammates to tears (of joy). I want to honor their dedication to this sport and all their hard work.
This film should be long enough to show our progression throughout the season, so I'm guessing it should be around 30 min long.
To film this I will be using a gopro (because it's waterproof) and my phone. To do this project I'm going to need to learn about film and editing. For the editing I'll probably use iMovie.
The easiest part of this project will probably be the actual filming since all I really have to do is press record, and I also have all the materials I need for that.
The most difficult part of this project will probably be coordinating times to film during practice. I can't take too much of our practice time to do this because we have a lot of work to do with our meet coming up in March. The editing should also be fairly difficult since I don't really know much about it.
Most of the planning for this project will be done during the time given in class, but it will all be executed during my practices. My plan is make a video that shows how amazing everyone on my team is, and how strong we are for sticking together during a rough time.
PROPOSAL
For this Semester I decided to do my 20% Time project on my health. I plan to exercise throughout the week and use my running techniques from last marking period. I have been slacking on my running since the first part of this project finished. Physically, I can run for over an hour but I am not consistent with my runs. I have not been doing the strengthening that I wanted to do last semester to my legs. I feel that I am motivated by last semesters project and I want to continue to work on my health and fitness. So I propose to use running as a foundation to reach a level of fitness that I envision for myself. This goal can not be reached by just dreaming about. I have to be motivated to reach a certain goal. My first step would be to see where I am at the beginning of this project. I would have to see how long it takes me to run1 mile, 5 miles; how much I strength I have (how many push-ups, sit-ups, squats). Then I would make a plan to track my progress and set a higher goal throughout every week of exercise. I also want to keep building on the habits I gained from the last project. I learned great habits but they could be reinforced or polished up a bit. For the Final I hope to demonstrate my progress and also how my mentality changes in order to become a more disciplined lady. My ultimate goal is to prioritize my health and well being and also to learn about myself throughout this project.
**** THE SPECIFICS OF MY PROPOSAL****
I want to achieve discipline, strength, and health. At the end of this project I want to be exercising 3- 4 times a week. I intend to learn how to organize myself and work on my time management skills. For my final I will show how I learned to build habits of discipline that would allow me to attain a healthy lifestyle and physical strength. During my 20% time I will be going to the gym during the week and keeping recordings of my exercise.
During class time I am going to be finding information about foods to eat, exercise, tips, organizing my schedule for the next week.

20% Proposal
For my 20 time project, I would like to focus on learning a new instrument. I have found modern string instruments such as guitars and ukuleles appealing. In the past, I learned how to play piano and violin. However, I had to give up both due to not having any time to practice. With 20 time, I view it as the perfect opportunity to pick up an instrument. Also, my church is starting a worship team, and I would like to play an instrument for the specific purpose. I plan to do most of my learning outside of school. This would involve practicing and watching YouTube videos. I have already found one source to learn from. This man is the Ukulele Teacher on YouTube. After watching some other musicians playing ukulele, I found out that they all learned the basics from this man. What the Ukulele teacher does is show us the chords to popular and modern songs. During class time, I will spend it reading up on the instrument and listening to ukulele music. Unfortunately, I still need to buy the instrument. In order to measure my progress, I am going to take videos of me playing in order to see progression. The good thing is, beginner ukuleles are very affordable! All in all, the real reason why I want to do this as my project is because I miss the feeling of playing an instrument. What appealed to me the most is how portable the ukulele is. I am looking forward to learning a new and modern instrument! Hoping to perform in front of my church and lead praise.
