20 Time Proposal

My 20 time project is going to be to learn as much of the Italian language as I could be the end of the time allotted for the project. My final goal is to be able to have a conversation, at least 2-3 minutes, in Italian, with my grandparents and father. In order to obtain this goal, I would need to start off with a very strong foundation of the Italian language. The easy part of this project will be learning the "American-Italian" words, such as ciao, etc- the words that everybody knows. The difficult part will be keeping up in conversation with lifelong Italian speakers and thinking quickly in Italian. Most of this project will be outside of class, where I know people who speak Italian. During my 20 time in class, I will silently study my Italian.

Proposal

My 20% Time Project is going to be training for a 10k run.
My final goal is to be able to run a 10k in an hour (or less).
How to be successful:
I need to research healthy diets and drink plenty of water in order to be successful in this project. To avoid injury, “stitches”, and bad breathing, I will research breathing techniques, pre-running diets, and important stretches.
What will be easy about this project?
The easy part about this project will be logging my performance and progress. I will need to keep track of my daily diet and have to keep a calendar of the days I run and if I was struggling, beat my time, ran more or less. I will also need to record injuries and preventative measures, such as stretches.
What will be difficult about this project?
The most difficult parts of this project are the physical and mental parts. Running is strenuous on the legs and I do not want to give up because I mentally discourage myself. Another difficulty is when the weather gets colder and it starts to snow. I would not want that to lessen my motivation.
Will most of this project be in class or outside of class?  If outside, what will I do during the class 20 Time?
Most of this project will be outside of the classroom. I will be running outside, which is the highlight of my project. During class, I will keep a log of my progress and research diets and stretches to maintain good health.

My 20 Time Project is going to be: Learning how to code.

My final product/goal/accomplishment will be: successfully learn how to code C# and make a small program at the end. By the end of the whole project I will be able to create a script/code. This project should be an easy one because many people online have tutorials and videos to help beginners learn. Also there is a variety of programs to support the code. C# is a fairly new language so many people will be in the same boat as me, wanting to learn it. I need to know where to look and make sure I am learning the right thing from a reliable source. Memorizing the actual code without using online snippets. Sometimes coding can be frustrating and fixing one problem can lead to 5 more being created. Programmers usually get very involved in their work and never leave it until it's done and I don't want to become like that. I would probably be more outside of class because I have coding software on my computer at home and at home there are very little distractions. While I am in class I can write my proposals and watch tutorials and visit interactive websites.

My 20 Time Project is going to be to run five gravel laps at my hometown high school and time myself each time. My project will focus on getting better at my fitness .My final product/goal/accomplishment will be to run five gravel laps at my hometown high school in less than thirty minutes. I hope to accomplish being in enough shape to reach this goal. This project will be enjoyable yet very challenging. I have been behind on my times and I know this because my soccer team and I had to run these laps to begin practicing. I had knee surgery last year and have yet to make a full recovery. According to myself, I do not feel that I am in necessary shape to be on my team as a starter. Its upsetting to me because I put myself down often. I will enjoy this project because running is in a sense, an art form. It is an art that is you work for every time you set out to run. I enjoy it because I will not master running by reaching this goal but I would have proved to myself that I have the capability to reach another goal. It is about becoming a sufficient runner and I feel a need to obtain these goals. I will have to run outside at my high school but in class I can stretch my body and do exercises. It is hard to get up in the morning and start the day off. If you get a run in before the day starts you feel more awake. Running feels like a drain but it puts energy into your body.I can bring on workouts and stretches to do during class.

My project will be on cooking, in specific learning to cook delicious and moderately healthy dishes. When outside the classroom, I will be working on this project with my mom and aunts, who cook on a daily basis and are always nagging me to learn to cook for myself. From doing this project, I expect  to gain great skills for when I am out by myself, in the world, and need to be able to properly care for myself instead of leaning on my mom for everything. It is important for me to take this project seriously because I will be leaving the nest soon, and I need to be able to take care of myself ( and it’s a great way to save money!). I expect this project to be a moderately inexpensive because I will already have most of the ingredients and tools I need to in order to cook at home, such as salt, sugar; knives, spoons, bowls, etc. This is a kind of project that can go on for a lifetime, because I can always improve, but I expect to be able to cook a full course meal for my family and I within a 18 week period. At the end of the @o time project, I will bring in something that I've cooked myself.

My 20 Time Project is going to be to learn how to play guitar. My final product will be me playing an actual full-length song. To become successful I need to  learn the chords of the guitar, strumming techniques, and how to tune it. The easy part of this project could be learning how to tune the guitar, because of apps on the app market that make it easier to tune a guitar. The difficult part of this can be using my knowledge on chords to actually play the song on the guitar. After all, most chords are just memorization, but actually putting them together could be the hard part. Most of this project would probably be outside of class, unless I bring my guitar in. Outside of class I would be able to dedicate some time to strumming out the chords and feeling out certain strumming patterns. In class, I could work on memorizing the chords before I strum them, and memorize song compositions so when I go home I can go straight to playing them.
